Former Tulane Golfer Gemma Dryburgh Helps Team Europe to Victory at Solheim Cup
Sep 24, 2023 | Women's Golf
Andalucía, Spain - Former Tulane golfer, Gemma Dryburgh, helped Team Europe retain the Cup in her Solheim Cup debut this weekend.Â
Dryburgh ('15) competed in two matchups over the three day weekend. On Friday fourballs, the former Tulanian played with teammate Madelene Sagstrom against Team USA Rose Zhang/Megan Khang. Dryburgh holed from the fairway on 16 to give Team Europe an edge, but Team USA countered with a birdie to square out the match that ended in a tie.Â
After sitting out Saturday, Dryburgh returned to play on Sunday with a singles match against Team USA member Cheyenne Knight. The two tied on the first two holes before Dryburgh made three birdies over the next four to pull ahead. Knight slowly cut the lead and the match ended in a tie.Â
Team Europe finished the Solheim Cup in a 14-14 tie with Team USA to retain the cup. It is the first tie in the 18-edition history of the biennial event.
