
Tulane Set for Road Matchup at Tulsa Sunday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball (10-5, 1-2) will look to bounce back into the win column as it faces Tulsa (9-6, 0-3) on the road Sunday afternoon. The Green Wave enters the game after losing back-to-back games for the first time this season.
The game between the Green Wave and Golden Hurricane is set to tipoff at 2 p.m. on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 104.1 The Spot with the Voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.
This marks the 36th all-time meeting between the Green Wave and the Golden Hurricane with Tulsa leading the series 25-10. Tulane holds a 2-15 record on the road against Tulsa including an 81-79 defeat on January 21 last season. The last time the Wave beat the Golden Hurricane in Tulsa was a 58-48 victory on February 10, 2021.
In its last time out, Tulane lost in heartbreaking fashion to No. 24 Florida Atlantic 85-84 at home on Thursday, January 11. The Green Wave took the lead with a 10-0 run capped by a Collin Holloway layup with 28 seconds left, but the Owls got the benefit of a foul call on a desperation three and made two free throws to win with 0.4 on the clock. Jaylen Forbes led all scorers in the game with 28 points including 23 in the second half.
Away from Uptown this season Tulane holds a 1-1 record in true road games with an 89-81 non-conference win at Fordham and a 70-56 defeat against American Athletic Conference foe North Texas. The Green Wave is averaging 72.5 points on 45.5 percent shooting in those two contests while allowing opponents to score 75.5 points per game.
Tulsa enters the matchup with a 9-6 record overall and an 0-3 record in league play after falling on the road to Charlotte 84-76 on January 10. The Golden Hurricane is led by a trio of players averaging double figures in scoring. PJ Haggerty leads the team and ranks second in the conference averaging 18.5 points per game. He is followed by Cobe Williams at 12.7 points and Keaston Willis at 12.5 points.
The Golden Hurricane is 9-1 so far this season with its lone defeat coming against Memphis 78-75 in the conference opener on January 4. At home this season the Tulsa is averaging 79.2 points per game on 44.6 percent shooting while holding opponents to 63.6 points.
Following the matchup at Tulsa, the Green Wave will travel to Birmingham, Alabama, to face UAB on Wednesday, January 17. The game between Tulane and the Blazers will tipoff at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
