
Women’s Basketball Drops Overtime Road Contest to North Texas, 77-70

DENTON, Texas – Despite 21 points from Marta Galic, Tulane's women's basketball team (8-10, 1-6 AAC) fell in overtime on the road to North Texas (16-3, 6-1 AAC) by a 77-70 score on Wednesday at The Super Pit.
Galic played all 45 minutes in the game and went 10-for-25 from the field in scoring her 21 points. She also had five rebounds, an assist and a steal. Hannah Pratt totaled 16 points, seven rebounds and an assist. Amira Mabry recorded 14 points, four rebounds and three assists. Irina Parau totaled eight points, seven rebounds and two assists. Kaylah Rainey led the team with six assists. She also had six points, four rebounds and two steals. Chiara Grattini picked up five points, three rebounds, two assists plus two steals. Joy Madison-Key handed out two assists.
North Texas put three players in double figures and were led by DesiRay Kernal's 19 points. Tommisha Lampkin tallied 18 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks.
Tulane's largest lead was 15 points early in the third quarter. The Green Wave shot 40.8 percent from the field (29-for-71), 27.3 percent from three-point range (9-for-33) and 50 percent from the line (3-for-6). The program recorded 41 rebounds, 17 assists and five stelas.
North Texas shot 46.7 percent from the field (28-for-60), 19 percent from three-point range (4-for-21) and 68 percent from the line (17-for-25). The Mean Green totaled 39 rebounds, 19 assists, seven steals and six blocks.
Tulane led 18-15 after the first quarter and extended the lead to seven, 36-29 at the break. After Tulane extended the lead to 15 points early in the third quarter, the Mean Green fought back to cut the deficit to just five points at the end of the third, 51-46. North Texas fought back to tie the game up at 67 after the fourth by outscoring the Green Wave 21-16. The Mean Green kept momentum going and outscored Tulane 10-3 in the overtime session.
Next, Tulane goes back to New Orleans to host Temple on Sunday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. at Devlin Fieldhouse.

The loss was the first time that Tulane has ever lost to North Texas in six career games…This was the first game with the Mean Green since 2014…The game was Tulane's first loss in overtime since March 2, 2022 against Wichita State…The game was the Green Wave's first overtime game since the Dec. 7, 2022 against Troy…The game was the third time this season that Marta Galic has scored 20+ points.
