
Tulane Ventures to Massachusetts for a Pair of Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane sailing hits the road again this weekend to compete in a pair of separate regattas both hosted in Massachusetts on October 19-20. The Green Wave will send a crew to the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Final in Boston while another squad will compete for the Wave at the Oberg Trophy in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The Open ACC Final will be hosted by Boston College at Savin Hill Yacht Club in Dorchester Bay. Tulane will be one of 18 teams competing in the regatta along with teams from Boston College, Bowdoin, Brown, Charleston, Cornell, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Harvard, Roger Williams, St. Mary's, Stanford, Tufts, Coast Guard, Navy, Miami, Rhode Island, and Yale. Last fall the Green Wave finished 15th overall in the Open ACC Final in St. Mary's City, Maryland.

Representing the Wave on the water for the Open ACC Final will be Kelly Holthus, Christian Ebbin, Helena English, Sabrina Anderson, Sammie Gardner, CJ Ricci, Mira Herlihy, and Brady Starck.

The format for the regatta will feature 14 total races in two divisions. Racing is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. CT on Saturday and 9:30 a.m. CT on Sunday.

Meanwhile in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the race for the Oberg Trophy will be hosted by Northeastern and MIT. Seventeen different schools will be represented in the regatta with 18 total teams competing. Tulane will be joined by Boston College, Boston University, Bowdoin, Brown, Dartmouth, Harvard, Hobart & William, Maine Maritime, MIT, Mass Maritime, Northeastern, Tufts, Coast Guard, Kings Point, Vermont, and Yale in the race for the Oberg Trophy.

The Green Wave will be represented by John Wood, Bobby Rielly, Lola Kohl, Alex Makoid, Claire Lewis, Ellie Spearman, Ryan Ehnot, Mary Carter, Ashley Hoguet, and Parker Kumler.

The regatta will feature three divisions scheduled for 14 races each. Competition will start at 9:30 a.m. CT on Saturday and 9 a.m. CT on Sunday.
