
Green Wave Lands in Top Eight of Massachusetts Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – The weekend in Massachusetts for Tulane sailing was highlighted by the crew competing at the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Final that finished third overall out of 18 teams in Boston. Meanwhile, at the race for the Oberg Trophy in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the Green Wave ended in eighth out of 18 teams on Sunday.

On Sunday at the Open ACC Championship Final Tulane moved up two spots to land third overall with 99 total points. The Wave was paced by Kelly Holthus, Helena English, and CJ Ricci in the A Division. Through seven total rotations in the A Division that combination tallied 39 points to finish second in the division. Over in the B Division the freshman duo of Christian Ebbin and Sabrina Anderson ended in eighth with 60 points after seven races.

With a more constant breeze on Sunday at the Oberg Trophy regatta teams were able to complete 21 total races. Tulane ultimately finished eighth in the field of 18 teams with 197 total points after 24 total races across three divisions. The pairing of John Wood and Alex Makoid led the way on the water for the Wave landing fifth with 56 points through eight races in the A Division. The next best group for Tulane was the combination of Lola Kohl, Ashley Hoguet, Ellie Spearman, and Parker Kumler with 59 points in the C Division to land in seventh. Lastly, in the B Division Bobby Rielly, Ryan Ehnot, Claire Lewis, and Mary Carter posted 82 points to finish 11th in the division.

Up next, the Green Wave will head to Austin, Texas, for the SEISA Fall Championships hosted by Texas on October 26-27.
