
Tulane Wins Open Atlantic Coast Championship Round 1B

NEW ORLEANS – Another freshman duo shined for Tulane sailing as the Green Wave held off stiff competition to win the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Round 1B on Sunday. Christian Ebbin and Sabrina Anderson paced the Wave to its fourth regatta victory of the fall. Meanwhile Tulane's second squad finished eighth overall in the race for the Stu Nelson Trophy.

On the waters of the St. Mary's River in St. Mary's City, Maryland, the Green Wave held on to the top spot in the standings on Sunday to claim first in the Open ACC Round 1B regatta. Ebbin and Anderson stood out among the pack for the second day in a row as they led Tulane by finishing first in the B Division with 50 total points through 13 races. Over in the A Division Kelly Holthus and Helena English helped the Wave secure the regatta victory by posting 82 points through 13 races to finish fourth in their division.

In New London, Connecticut, at the Stu Nelson Trophy regatta Tulane maintained its position in the field on Sunday to land in eighth overall out of 15 teams. The C Division pairing of Lola Kohl and CJ Ricci paced the Wave on the water with 69 total points in 10 races to finish seventh in the division. Next for the Green Wave was Mira Herlihy and Taylor Bartell who landed ninth in the B Division with 91 points. Rounding out the sailors for Tulane were Lucy Spearman, Oakley Cunningham, Elizabeth Struve, and Ellie Spearman with 92 points in 10 races which ranked 10th in the A Division.

Up next, Tulane will be back on the road to compete in the Women's ACC Finals and the Nevins Trophy on October 12-13. The Women's ACC Finals will be held in Annapolis, Maryland, while the race for the Nevins Trophy will be hosted in Kings Point, New York.
