Tulane Finishes Seventh at ICSA Match Race National Championships
Nov 17, 2024 | Sailing
OYSTER BAY, N.Y. – Tulane University sailing completed its fall campaign over the weekend finishing seventh out of 10 teams in the ICSA Match Race National Championship on Sunday. The Green Wave was represented by skipper Kelly Holthus with crews Martha Hughes, Zander King, and Brady Starck on the water for the championship regatta.
Over the course of the regatta the Wave earned four total wins. In round robin of Stage 1, Tulane picked up victories over College of Charleston, Stanford, Navy, and Chicago to finish sixth in the round at 4-5. Unfortunately, the winning fortune did not carry into Stage 2 for Tulane as the Green Wave went 0-5 in the round but still advanced to the quarterfinals.
The Wave squared off with the eventual champion Boston College in the quarterfinals on Sunday. The Eagles proved to be too much for Tulane as the Green Wave lost both races to Boston College to be eliminated from the championship regatta.
The performance by the Green Wave quartet ultimately landed Tulane in seventh overall in the field of 10 teams for ICSA Match Race National Championship.
