CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Tulane sailing dominated the opening weekend of its 2025 fall schedule sweeping the SEISA Match Race and Singlehanded Championships as well as the Lone Star Regatta. The Green Wave finished first in all four regattas during the weekend including coming home with three SEISA titles.
The action began on Friday with the SEISA Match Race Championship that featured the Wave against teams from Rice and Texas. Tulane was represented by skipper Kelly Holthus with crews Hamilton Barclay, Lillie Foster, and Martha Hughes. That quartet for the Wave cruised to victory over the Owls and Longhorns to win the program's second-straight SEISA Match Race Championship.
On Saturday competitors for the SEISA Singlehanded Championships and the Lone Star Regatta hit the water. The Green Wave rolled four sailors out to race for the SEISA Women's Singlehanded Championship in Ava Anderson, Oakley Cunningham, Allie Capasso, and Ashley Hoguet. Anderson, Cunningham, and Capasso claimed the top three spots while Hoguet placed fifth. The first-place finish for Anderson marked her third consecutive SEISA singlehanded title.
Tulane also dominated the SEISA Open Singlehanded Championship on Saturday as Barclay, Alejo Di Blasi, Tate Christopher, and Matheo Capasso swept the top four places in the regatta. It was ultimately Barclay who claimed the championship for the Wave after seven races.
In the Lone Star Regatta the Green Wave faced teams from Rice, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, Cal Poly, and Texas A&M – Galveston. Tulane rolled against the competition again finishing with 87 total points in the fleet race which was 34 points in front of the next team (Rice – 121).
The trio of Eliza Corral, Jonah Wozniak, and Di Blasi paced the Wave from the A Division ending with a total score of 35 points. Meanwhile, in the B Division Foster sailed with Maura McPartlin and Allie Capasso raced with Hughes to finish second overall with 52 points.
Up next, the Green Wave will return home to host the Sugar Bowl Fleet Races on Lake Pontchartrain. The home regatta for Tulane will be held on Saturday and Sunday, September 20-21.
