TAMPA, Fla. - Tulane women's basketball (3-3, 0-0 AAC) earned a thrilling 83-81 victory over Florida (3-3, 0-0 SEC) on Thanksgiving Day in the opening game of the St. Pete Showcase.
Sherese Pittman delivered the game-winning layup with less than a second left in the fourth quarter, breaking an 81-81 tie and sealing the 83-81 victory, assisted by Sadie Shores.
Kendall Sneed led the Green Wave with 22 points and 11 assists, grabbing her second consecutive double-double while shooting 9-of-16 from the field. Victoria Keenan added 18 points, hitting an impressive 6-of-11 from beyond the arc. Sherese Pittman contributed a solid performance with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Sadie Shores and Dyllan Hanna provided key bench support, each scoring 10 points to help Tulane secure the hard-fought win.
Tulane's balanced offense was backed by strong defense, forcing 19 Florida turnovers and turning them into 17 points. The Green Wave also scored 10 points on fast breaks and outpaced Florida's bench 20-10.
Despite Florida's late-game push, which included a dominant 23-point fourth quarter, Tulane stayed calm under pressure, making the difference.
With the victory, Tulane improves to .500 on the season and looks to carry momentum into Saturday's matchup against NAU at 12:00 p.m. CT.
