
Swimming & Diving Ranked No. 25 Nationally

New Orleans – Following a successful first few weeks of the season, including a strong weekend in Houston, the Tulane swim & diving team are ranked No. 25 nationally by SwimCloud this week.
The program amassed 759.24 points overall in the poll and are also the top ranked Division I Mid-Major program in the country and are currently ranked No. 1 in the American Athletic Conference (AAC).
Nationally the program is ranked ahead of prominent swimming & diving programs No. 26 Minnesota (758.75), No. 27 Florida State (756.70), No. 28 Northwestern (754.80), No. 29 Wisconsin (754.95) and No. 30 SMU (751.00).
In the Division I Mid-Major rankings the program is ahead of Houston (739.95), Akron (729.55), Missouri State (720.35) and Hawaii (718.55).
In the AAC rankings Tulane is ahead of Rice (685.80), ECU (670.10), Florida Atlantic (652.45) and Florida International (648.05).
Individually Tulane has six student-athletes that currently have more than 700 performance points in Maya Wilson (753.44), Gwen Shahboz (742.40), Andrea Zeebe (736.30), Catherine Russo (724.40), Rafaela Sumida (722.15) and Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou (703.50).
In the team's last meet against the University of Houston and LSU on Nov. 2, Tulane totaled 35 season bests, 13 NIC bonus cuts, 14 top-10 school marks, a school record and nine top-three finishes at the meet.
The meet was highlighted for the Green Wave by Russo setting the school record in the 50 free with a time of 22.73. The mark also is an NIC bonus cut, a US Open Water qualifier and is the top mark in the event in the AAC this season.
Wilson swan a 49.53 in the 100 free to place second overall in the event and also puts her second in the school history. The mark also was an NIC bonus cut, a US Open Water qualifier and is No. 2 in the AAC. Wilson also placed second in the 200 free with a 1:47.67. That time ranks her fourth in school history and is No. 1 in the AAC plus is an NIC bonus cut.
Shahboz earned second in the 200 breast with a 2:13.84. Her time ranks her No. 3 in school history while also being an NIC bonus cut, a US Open Water qualifier and is the top mark in the AAC in the event. Shahboz also finished as the runner-up in the 400 IM with a 4:19.03. The mark is No. 5 in school history while also being an NIC bonus cut and ranks her No. 1 in the AAC.
Sumida earned third in the 1000 free with a 10:04.05. The mark was an NIC bonus cut, No. 4 in school history and ranks her No. 1 in the AAC this season. Sumida also finished third in the 500 free with a 4:51.61. The time is an NIC bonus cut, No. 8 in school history and No. 1 in the AAC this season.
Zeebe earned third in the 400 IM with a 4:19.38. The mark was an NIC bonus cut and ranks her No. 2 in the AAC this season.
The 400 free relay team of Lise Coetzee, Russo, Olcaytu Hatipoglu and Wilson took third in their event with a 3:23.31. The time ranks the group No. 6 in school history and No. 1 in the AAC while also being an NIC bonus cut.
Next, Tulane makes the trip to Cleveland for the Magnus Cup from Nov. 21 – 23 in Ohio.
