
Mercer Joins Green Wave Men’s Tennis Program

HUNTINGTON, WV – Tulane head men's tennis coach Mark Booras announced Friday that AJ Mercer has signed on as a newcomer to the Green Wave.
Mercer, who comes up to Uptown after spending the fall semester at Kentucky, was a four-star prep recruit who ranked 74th nationally and No. 1 in the state of West Virginia. In May of 2022, he was also ranked No. 1 in the United State Tennis Association (USTA) Boys' 16s Doubles.
A two-time high school conference player of the year and state singles champion, Mercer was also a boys' national U16 Easter Bowl and Indoor Doubles Champion.
Mercer, a Huntington, WV native, is the son of John and Laurie Mercer, who together, have served as the head coach of the Marshall women's tennis program since 1994.
