Tulane Travels to East Carolina Sunday

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball (13-11, 4-8) aims to return to the win column as it faces East Carolina (13-12, 6-6) for the first time this season on the road Sunday afternoon. The Green Wave has lost back-to-back games and sits ninth in the American Athletic Conference.

The game between the Green Wave and the Pirates is set to tipoff at 1 p.m. CT on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 104.1 The Spot with the Voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.

This marks the 36th all-time meeting between the Green Wave and the Pirates with Tulane trailing in the series 17-18. Tulane defeated ECU in the last meeting 81-78 in New Orleans on March 3, 2023. The Wave holds a 7-11 record against the Pirates on the road and has not won in Greenville, N.C., since 2018 losing in its last five trips.

In its last time out, Tulane lost its second consecutive game after falling 87-78 to SMU on Thursday night in New Orleans. The Green Wave led the Mustangs by four at halftime, but momentum flipped in favor of SMU in the second half as Tulane was outscored 50-38 after the break. Kevin Cross led the Wave in scoring with 20 points to go with a team-high four assists. Jaylen Forbes and Sion James also finished in double figures with 18 and 14 points, respectively.

In true road games this season the Green Wave holds a 2-5 overall record including just a 1-5 mark in conference play. Tulane is averaging 78.6 points on 44.1 percent shooting while allowing 82.9 points per game on the road.

East Carolina enters the matchup on a two-game winning streak after beating Wichita State 68-55 at home Thursday. The Pirates hold a 13-12 overall record and an 6-6 mark in league play.

ECU is 10-7 at home this season including a 3-3 record in conference play. The Pirates hang their hat on the defensive end of the floor ranking fourth in the AAC in scoring defense.
