
Wave Finishes Fifth and Sixth at Weekend Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University sailing took fifth place and sixth place at separate weekend regattas on Sunday. The Green Wave women's team finish fifth out of 10 teams in The Duplin Trophy Women's Team Race in Boston while the Tulane coed crew landed sixth among nine teams at the Aaron Szambecki Team Race in Norfolk, Virginia.

On Sunday, the Green Wave posted a 4-1 record to finish The Duplin Trophy Women's Team Race hosted by Harvard with an 8-4 mark overall. Tulane added wins over Tufts, Brown, Bowdoin, and Rhode Island behind the racing of skippers Mia Hanes, Ava Anderson, and Sammie Gardner teamed with crews Ellie Spearman, Essie Clifton, and Lucy Spearman to finish fifth in the regatta among 10 teams.

In the Aaron Szambecki Team Race hosted by Old Dominion the Wave collected two wins on Sunday to hold sixth place with a 7-8 overall record. Tulane was led by skippers Hamilton, Barclay, Zander King, and Kelly Holthus with crews Matheo Capasso, Alex Makoid, Audrey Permenter, CJ Ricci, Jack Solmo, Brady Starck, and Gillian Perrell for wins over Dartmouth and Hobart and William on Sunday.

Up next, Tulane will compete in the Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race in Providence, Rhode Island, and the Marchiando Team Race in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on March 30-31.
