
Tulane Splits to Conclude PCH Open

LOS ANGELES – Tulane University beach volleyball posted another 1-1 performance to finish competition at the PCH Open hosted by Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles Sunday. The Green Wave dropped a rematch against 10th-ranked Loyola Marymount 4-1 before closing the weekend with a 5-0 sweep over Pepperdine.

In its second matchup against the No. 10 Loyola Marymount Lions Tulane fared a little better scoring one point and pushing four courts to decisive third sets. The Wave got its lone point against the Lions from Lara Torruella and Tawny Ensign on court three with a three-set victory that ended the dual 4-1 in favor of Loyola Marymount.

The Green Wave concluded its weekend with the second meeting in program history against Pepperdine. Trinity Jackson and Savka Popovic put Tulane in front from the start with a three-set win on court two and the Wave never looked back. Samantha Green and Skylar Ensign followed with a three-set win on court four before Sara Hall and Molly Trodd clinched the match for Tulane on court one in two sets. The duo of Amelia Mullen and McKenzie Cutler made it 4-0 by winning in two sets on court five. The 5-0 sweep was secured by Torruella with Sam O'Connor this time with a comeback win in three sets on court three. The victory marked Tulane's first win in program history against the Pepperdine Wave.

Up next, the Green Wave will remain out west making the trip to Northridge, California, to play CSUN and CSU Bakersfield on Wednesday, March 27.
