Mar 8, 2024 | Women's Beach Volleyball
FORT WORTH, Texas – Tulane University beach volleyball (8-4) dropped its first two duals of the weekend at the Horned Frog Beach Challenge hosted by TCU on Friday. The Green Wave fell against UC Davis to open the day before falling to the tournament host, No. TCU, in its final dual of the day.
Â
Against the Aggies of UC Davis, Tulane jumped out to an early 2-0 advantage. Amelia Mullen and McKenzie Carter delivered the first point of the weekend for the Wave with a two-set win on court five. The duo of Samantha Green and Skylar Ensign then put the Green Wave up 2-0 on the Aggies with a three-set win on court four. Unfortunately, the momentum did not carry over to courts one through three as UC Davis took the point on all three courts to hand Tulane the 3-2 defeat.
Â
In the Wave's second ranked dual of the season Tulane squared off against fifth-ranked TCU to close its day Friday. After the Horned Frogs took the lead with a win on court four, the pairing of Mullen and Cutler stepped up with a three-set victory on court five to tie the dual 1-1. The Green Wave was unable build on the momentum from the win on court five, however, as court one through three went to TCU with all three decided in two sets ending the dual with a 4-1 loss for Tulane.
Â
Up next, the Green Wave continue competition at the Horned Frog Challenge with two more duals on Saturday. Tulane will face Texas A&M – Corpus Christi at 7:30 a.m. followed by a matchup with Stephen F. Austin at 9:30 a.m.
