
Wave Finishes Third for Oberg Trophy and Takes Seventh for Thompson Trophy

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing concluded the regular season by finishing in third place at the Oberg Trophy Fleet Race in Boston and landing in seventh place at the Thompson Trophy Team Race in New London, Connecticut, on Sunday.

The Green Wave claimed third in a field of 16 at the Oberg Trophy Fleet Race after posting 264 total points across three divisions through 14 rotations. On Sunday Tulane added 139 points to its total after ending the first day of competition with 125 total points. Thad Lettsome, Sammie Gardner, Ellie Spearman, and Abigail Borggaard paced the Wave from the A Division tallying 74 points to take third in the division. In the B Division Ava Anderson, Cate Anderson, and Hope Breslin teamed up to finish fifth in the division with 93 total points in the regatta. Rounding out the Wave on the water was Mia Hanes, Mira Herlihy, and Sloane Mullin landing sixth in the C Division with 99 points.

Over in New London, Connecticut, Tulane finished in seventh out of eight teams at the Thompson Trophy Team Race. The Green Wave added three wins to its record on Sunday to maintain its spot at seven in the standings. Skippers Hamilton Barclay, Zander King, Kelly Holthus, and Matheo Capasso raced with crews CJ Ricci, Alex Makoid, and Gillian Perrell to record three wins over Connecticut College and one win each over Boston College, MIT, and Tufts.

Up next, Tulane will return to Boston for the ICSA Team Race National Championships. The ICSA Open Team Race National Championship will be hosted by Harvard from April 25-27 while the Women's Team Race National Championship will be hosted by MIT on April 28-29.
