Green Wave Falls to UTSA in Second Round of AAC Championship
Apr 18, 2024 | Women's Tennis
DALLAS – Tulane University women's tennis (11-9) was eliminated from the 2024 American Athletic Conference Championship after falling 4-2 to the nine seed UTSA (15-6) on Thursday. After dropping the doubles point the Green Wave battled back to even the score 2-2, but ultimately dropped the next two points to the Roadrunners.
In doubles action Tulane faced an early deficit losing on courts one and two surrendering the doubles point to UTSA.
After the Roadrunners took a 2-0 lead, the Green Wave began to fight back in singles play. Mackenzie Clark put Tulane on the board with a two-set victory on court two for her seventh singles win of the spring. The Wave tied the score soon after as Kristen Borland claimed the point on court three in two sets to give her a team-high 10 singles win this spring.
Â
Tulane would fall behind again after the Roadrunners picked up a win on court six, but the opportunity to win the match was still in reach for the Wave as courts one and five entered a third set. However, the victory was not meant to be for the Green Wave as UTSA won on court five sending Tulane home with a 4-2 loss.
