Wave Opens C-USA Championship Versus UAB Thursday
Apr 24, 2024 | Women's Beach Volleyball
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University beach volleyball (22-12) will begin the 2024 Conference USA Beach Volleyball Championship as the fifth seed against the fourth seed UAB (18-13) on Thursday at Sugar Beach in Youngsville, Louisiana. The Green Wave and the Blazers will square off for the second time within a week with the dual set to start at 1 p.m. Thursday.
Â
This is just the second season in C-USA and the second appearance in the C-USA Championship for the Wave. Last season Tulane went 2-2 as the third seed in the tournament ultimately losing the runner-up Florida International.
Â
The Green Wave dropped its latest matchup against UAB on Saturday 4-1, but still holds an 18-7 advantage in the series. The last time Tulane topped the Blazers came last season at the Blazer Beach Bash in Birmingham, Alabama, when the Wave won 3-2.
Â
With a victory on Thursday over UAB Tulane would advance to play the winner of the one seed TCU versus either the eight seed Tarleton State or the nine seed Jackson State. That match would take place Friday at 10 a.m. and be aired live on ESPN+.
Â
If the Green Wave falls against the Blazers, it will face the loser of the TCU-Tarleton State/Jackson State match in the loser's bracket at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
