Outdoor Track & Field’s Jack Jennings Earns Place As An Honorable Mention All-America
Jun 14, 2024 | Track & Field
New Orleans – Tulane's Jack Jennings was recently honored with a place on the USTFCCCA's All-America Team for his performance during outdoor season.
Jennings placed 21st overall in the 10,000m at the 2024 NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon at Hayward Field on June 5 with his time of 29:43.16 to earn an Honorable Mention selection.
Athletes of member institutions earned First Team All-America status by finishing among the top-8 of their event. Second Team All-America honors went to those student-athletes who finished between nine and 16th place. Honorable mention went to student-athletes who finished 17th through 24th.
Jennings earned his place to compete in the NCAA Championships by finishing 12th at the NCAA East First Round in Lexington, Kentucky on May 22 with a time of 29:23.94. He is the school record holder in the event with his time of 28:28.72 which he achieved at the Raleigh Relays. Jennings was a three-time All-AAC selection this season (cross country (6th), men's outdoor 5,000m (2nd) and men's outdoor 10,000m (3rd). The outdoor championships was the second NCAA Championship competition that Jennings has participated in for Tulane as he ran during the fall in the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Champions.
He was first Tulane student-athlete to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships since Kristen O'Handley competed and finished as an All-America in the Heptathlon last season. He was the first Tulane male student-athlete to qualify for the outdoor championships since Emmanuel Rotich in the 3000m steeplechase in 2019. Jennings is just the fourth different male student-athlete to qualify for the outdoor championships since 2015 (Jennings in 2024, Rotich in 2019, 2018 and 2017, Raymond Kibet in 2017 and Devon Breaux in 2015).
He is the 32nd Tulane track and field student-athlete to pick up All-America honors in the program's history and joined Emmanuel Rotich (2017 & 2018), Dalladiz Ortiz (2017), Raymond Kibet (2017), Devon Breaux (2015), Soloman Kandie (2000-02), Nathan Junius (2001), John Dessoye (1997), Paul Bienz (1949) and Herman Neugass (1936) as only 10th Tulane men's track and field All-American in program history.
