
Track & Field Has Seven Selected to CSC’s Academic All-District ® Team

Greenwood, Indiana – The Tulane track & field/cross country program saw seven of its student-athletes honored nationally as members of the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District ® Division I Track & Field / Cross Country Team, the organization announced recently.
Tulane's seven Track & Field Cross Country Academic All-District ® selections this year are Ryan Adkins, Lily Bell, Alan Deogracias III, Laura Fodor, Patricija Ozolina, Kaia Todd and Mason Wong. The group of seven is the second largest ever group from the program behind the eight that were chosen last year.
Overall since 2001, Tulane now has had 20 Academic All-District ® selection (Birka Wicks – 2003-04, Helmi Lappanen – 2005, Helmi Lappanen – 2006, Lauren Bartels – 2017, Lauren Bartels – 2018, Arturs Lapins – 2023, Jon Lloyd – 2023, Bradley Makuvire – 2023, Maren Butler – 2023, Kristen O'Handley – 2023, Victoria Robinson – 2023, Kara Schiek – 2023, Kara Steele – 2023, Ryan Adkins – 2024, Lily Bell – 2024, Alan Deogracias III – 2024, Laura Fodor – 2024, Patricija Ozolina – 2024, Kaia Todd – 2024 and Mason Wong – 2024.).
To be a member of CSC's Academic All-District Team, all seven student-athlete needed to have an individual cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or above, be a sophomore or higher in academic class and new this year be ranked in the top – 50 regionally by TFRSS.
Adkins placed 11th in the South Central region in the men's 10,000m (29:55.12) plus had a 3.875 grade-point average in his master's degree course work in health policy. Bell was 22nd in the South Central region in the women's 10,000m (38:15.13) plus had a 3.924 grade-point average in her bachelor's degree course work as a marketing major. Deogracias was 41st in the South Central region in the men's 5,000m (14:38.00) plus had a 3.824 grade-point average in his master's degree course work for ecology & evolutionary biology. Fodor was 10th in the South Central region in the pentathlon (3,732 points) plus had a 4.00 grade-point average in her bachelor's degree course work as a biological chemistry major. Ozolina was 30th in the South Central region in the pentathlon (3,360 points) plus had a 3.787 grade-point average in her bachelor's degree course work as a economics major. Todd was 19th in the South Central region in the pentathlon (3,543 points) plus had a 3.622 grade-point average in her bachelor's degree course work as a neuroscience major. Wong was 34th in the South Central region in the 3,000m steeplechase (9:40.97) plus had a 4.00 grade-point average in his master's degree course work in pharmacology.
The College Sports Communicators, formerly the College Sports Information Director of America, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes track & field/cross country honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Tulane's seven Academic All-District ® honorees now advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First and second-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early July.
Tulane track & field has had three Academic All-Americans in the school's history in Lauren Bartels– 2018 – 2nd team, Ralph Junis – 1997 – 1st team and Will Junis – 1996 – 1st team.
