Tulane Finishes Fourth in Green Wave Invitational

NEW ORLEANS – Strong performances by newcomers Francesca Pompa and Gabriella Gilrowski helped Tulane golf climb one spot in the standings in the final round to finish fourth in the Green Wave Invitational. The Green Wave posted a final total of 890 (+26) through the three-round tournament at TPC Louisiana to finish just seven strokes out of the top three.

Pompa led the charge for the Wave in her first collegiate tournament recording a 68 (-4) in the third round to move up seven spots in the individual leader board. She ended the tournament in sixth overall at +2.

Another new face for the Green Wave, Gilrowski, climbed into the top 15 during the final round of play by shooting a 71 (-1). Her third-round performance moved her up six spots to 13th in the individual standings at +7 for the tournament.

Matilde Innocenti also posted a top-20 finish for Tulane after recording a 75 (+3) in the third round to land 18th overall at +9 through all three rounds.

The next best finishers for the Wave were Ruhee Pandit competing as an individual and Cristina Albertazzi. Pandit shot a 75 (+3) on Tuesday to close the tournament at +11 which ranked 21st overall. Albertazzi posted a 76 (+4) in her last round to land 22nd overall in the tournament at +12.

Sophia Yi-Ju Chen was next on the leader board for Tulane as she posted a 78 (+6) in the third round. She ultimately finished 25th overall at +14 for the tournament.

Rounding out the tournament for the Green Wave were Tonka Zacharovska, Luna Xu, and Lynne Zhang each competing as individuals. Zacharovska finished 35th at +20 followed by Xu in 39th at (+22) and Zhang in 43rd at +26.

Up next, Tulane will hit the road to compete in the Schooner Fall Classic hosted by Oklahoma. The tournament will be held from September 21-23 at the Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Oklahoma.
