Volleyball Sweeps Grambling State During Day 2 of Green Wave Classic

NEW ORLEANS –Tulane volleyball shut out Grambling State in its second match of the Green Wave Classic to secure its first home win of the season. Tomorrow, the Green Wave will take on the University of Louisiana at Monroe reinvigorated from their decisive win today.
While the Grambling State Tigers had an initial lead, the Green Wave quickly rallied and came back to win the set 25-18. They finished the remaining sets 25-15 and 25-21 and rode their dominant streak to victory.
Sami Jacobs commanded the offense once again, leading the charge with 10 kills and two service aces. Avery Burks tallied seven kills and had a team-high 13 receptions.
Agata Beksha also provided seven kills, as well as an impressive three solo blocks. Annabelle He had another two service aces, and Ava Derbes notched five kills and hit 0.429.
Sabrina Skyers had an exceptional game, as she delivered eight kills, hit 0.429, and provided two block assists. Skyers was strong out of the gate, hitting 0.500 in the first set with 4 kills – the most of any player during that set.
UP NEXT
Tulane will play the University of Louisiana at Monroe tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 15 at 3 p.m. Next weekend, they will host another home tournament, the Pelican Invite, that will begin on Thursday, Sept. 19 .
