Wave Finishes Tied for Ninth at Schooner Fall Classic

NORMAN, Okla. – A pair of players under par for the tournament for the Green Wave led Tulane golf to a tie for ninth place out of 16 teams in the Schooner Fall Classic at the Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Oklahoma. Matilde Innocenti shot a team-low 68 (-2) on Monday to finish two under overall while Gabriella Gilrowski carded a 69 (-1) and a 70 (E) to land one under in the tournament.
As a team the Green Wave finished with a final score of 568 (+8) through two rounds to tie with Wisconsin for ninth overall. Tulane carded a first round score of 285 on Saturday and followed that with a 283 in the second round Monday. The Wave ultimately finished in front of the three other American Athletic Conference teams in the field – North Texas (12th – +13), Tulsa (13th – +15), and Florida Atlantic (16th – +38).
Innocenti climbed the leaderboard during her second round carding a team-best 68 (-2) on her scorecard at the end of the round. She ultimately finished tied for 11th overall with a two-round total of 138 (70, 68) to end at two under for the tournament.
Tulane saw one more competitor finish in the top 15 for the weekend as Gilrowski posted a final tally of 139 (69, 70) to land tied for 15th in the field of 90 players. She…
Next up on the leaderboard for the Green Wave was freshman Cristina Albertazzi who ended the tournament tied for 55th with a total of 146 (+6 – 73, 73). Fellow freshman Francesca Pompa moved up a few spots during the second round to land tied for 68th carding a total on 148 (+8 – 76, 72).
Ruhee Pandit rounded out the group for Tulane shooting a total of 152 (+12 – 73, 79) for the tournament.
Up next, the Green Wave will travel to Denver for the Ron Moore Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Denver. The tournament will be held at the University of Denver Country Club from October 4-6.
