
Green Wave Hits the Road for Northeast Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane sailing will travel to the northeast this weekend for a pair of road regattas on Saturday and Sunday, September 28-29. The Green Wave women will compete in the Women's ACC's Round 1B hosted by Brown in Providence, Rhode Island, while the Wave will send a coed squad to New London, Connecticut, to race for the Danmark Trophy hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

The Wave will be competing on the water in a field of 18 teams in the Women's ACC's Round 1B. Featured in the field with Tulane will be Boston College, Boston University, Bowdoin, Brown, Cornell, Fordham, George Washington, Hobart & William, Maine Maritime, MIT, North Carolina State, Northeastern, Roger Williams, Navy, South Florida, Vermont, and Wisconsin. The Green Wave finished eighth out of 17 teams in the Women's ACC Semifinals last fall.

The regatta will be sailed in two divisions in a single round robin of 14 races. Competition is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday and 9 a.m. CT on Sunday.

Meanwhile, in New London, Connecticut, Tulane will be one of 20 teams racing for the Danmark Trophy. The field for the regatta will also feature Boston College, Brown, Charleston, Connecticut College, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, MIT, Roger Williams, St. Mary's, Stanford, Tufts, Coast Guard, Navy, Miami, Penn, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, and Yale. Last fall the Wave landed 15th among the 20 teams in the race for the Danmark Trophy.

The format for the regatta will include a single round robin of 14 races sailed in two divisions. Racing is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday and 9 a.m. on Sunday.
