
Wave Welcomes Nicholls to Uptown for Friday Matinee

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University men's basketball returns to Uptown Friday to host in-state foe Nicholls inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. The Green Wave holds a 15-4 record against team from the Bayou State under Head Coach Ron Hunter including a 13-4 mark at home.
The game between the Wave and the Colonels is set to tipoff at 2 p.m. on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the action live on the Tulane Sports Network from Learfield on 106.7 The Ticket with the Voice of the Green Wave Corey Gloor or streaming on the Tulane Athletics App and The Varsity Network App.
This marks the 23rd all-time regular season meeting between Tulane and Nicholls with the Green Wave leading the series 21-1. The Wave has won each of the last four matchups overall with its last loss coming on the road 52-66 on November 26, 2010. Tulane holds a perfect 19-0 record against the Colonels in Uptown.
In its last time out, Tulane closed its trip to the Shriners Children's Charleston Classic with a thrilling 93-90 overtime victory over Boston College on Sunday, November 23. The overtime win was the first for the Green Wave since defeating Temple in overtime at home 92- 80 on February 2, 2024. The duo of Curtis Williams Jr. and Rowan Brumbaugh led the charge for the Wave against the Eagles as Williams poured in career-highs with 32 points and nine rebounds while Brumbaugh added 27 points, seven boards, and five assists.
Following his career performance against Boston College junior Curtis Williams Jr. was named the American Conference Player of the Week. Williams averaged 21.5 points on 59.3 percent shooting from the field and 53.8 percent from downtown while adding 6.0 rebounds per game at the Charleston Classic.
Nicholls enters the game with an 0-5 record on the season with all five losses coming on the road including an 81-95 defeat at Oklahoma State in their last contest on November 22. Four players are averaging double figures in scoring for the Colonels this season - Trae English (13.8), Sincere Malone (11.6), Jalik Dunkley (11.6), and Jaylen Searles (11.3).
Through five games Nicholls is averaging just 66.2 points on 37.9 percent shooting from the floor and 27.0 percent from beyond the arc this season. Meanwhile, opponents are averaging 80.8 points on 47.3 percent from the field and 37.9 percent from three against the Colonels.
Following the game against the Colonels, the Green Wave will face welcome another in-state opponent to Uptown with a matchup against Grambling on Tuesday, December 2. Tipoff between Tulane and the Tigers is set for 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
