
Six to Set Sail for Tulane at ICSA Singlehanded National Championships

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing will be represented by six sailors this Saturday and Sunday, November 8-9, in the ICSA Singlehanded National Championships. The Green Wave sailors will compete in the championship regatta hosted by Old Dominion on the waters of the Elizabeth River.

The ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship will be raced for the Janet Lutz Trophy. Ava Anderson and Oakley Cunningham will represent the Wave in the field of 18 sailors competing for the title.

Anderson will be making her third consecutive appearance in the singlehanded championship while Cunningham will be competing for the second time. Last fall Anderson placed 11th in the championship regatta. In the 2023 championship regatta the duo competed together with Ava claiming the title and Cunningham finishing 15th.

In the ICSA Open Singlehanded Championship Hamilton Barclay, Matheo Capasso, Tate Christopher, and Alejo Di Blasi will compete for Tulane in a field of 18 sailors for the Glen S. Foster Trophy.

Barclay and Capasso will both be making their second appearance in the championship regatta while freshmen Christoper and Di Blasi will compete for the first time. In 2023 Hamilton claimed second place in the championship while Capasso placed 11th in 2024.

The Wave swept the SEISA Fall Championships for the sixth consecutive time in Corpus Christi, Texas. Tulane claimed its seventh-straight title in the women's championship by a 34-point margin while also winning the open championship for the sixth year in a row by a total of 66 points.
