
Barclay & Anderson Highlight ICSA Singlehanded Nationals for Tulane

NORFOLK, Va. – Junior Hamilton Barclay finished as the national runner-up in the ICSA Open Singlehanded National Championship to highlight the weekend for Tulane sailing at the ICSA Singlehanded National Championships. Hamilton was joined by Ava Anderson in the women's championship as the top performers for the Green Wave with Anderson claiming fifth place.
The Wave was represented on the water by six sailors over the weekend at the ICSA Singlehanded National Championships. Hamilton posted the best performance for Tulane in his second trip to the championship regatta. He finished second in the field of 18 competitors for the Glen S. Foster Trophy with a final tally of 34 points through seven races. Barclay finished in the top five on five occasions across the seven rotations including a race victory in the fourth race.
Joining Hamilton in the open championship were Matheo Capasso, Tate Christopher, and Alejo Di Blasi. Christopher was the next on the leaderboard for the Green Wave as the freshman placed 12th with a final score of 76 in his first trip to the championship. Capasso and Di Blasi followed landing 15th and 16th, respectively. In his second appearance at the championship regatta Capasso finished with a score of 85 while Di Blasi posted a final of 91 in his first appearance.
Over in the women's singlehanded championship Tulane was represented by Anderson and Oakley Cunningham. Anderson, making her third appearance in the championship regatta, claimed fifth overall in the field of 18 racing for the Janet Lutz Trophy. She ended the competition with a total score of 46 through seven races with a pair of top three finishes. In her second trip to the women's championship, Cunningham placed 14th with a final score of 83.
Up next, Kelly Holthus will lead a crew representing Tulane will be represented at the ICSA Match Race National Championship in Tampa, Florida. The championship regatta will be held on Saturday and Sunday, November 15-16.
