
Green Wave Finishes Seventh at ICSA Women’s Fleet Race National Championship

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Tulane University sailing placed seventh among 18 teams in the ICSA Women's Fleet Race National Championship on Monday at SkyBeach Resort. The Green Wave finished the two-day championship regatta with a total score of 208 through 12 completed rotations.
The Wave was led in the championship by its A Division sailors which finished ninth in their division. Skipper Ava Anderson teamed with crews Ella May Corckran and Cate Anderson to post a score of 96 across 12 races in the division. Anderson and Corckran combined to record seven top 10 finishes including three in the top five. Meanwhile, the Anderson duo posted one top 10 result in three races together.
Tulane placed 11th over in the B Division with a total score of 112 in 12 rotations on the water. Skipper Gabriela Vassel raced with crew Caitlin Briggs and skipper Lola Kohl teamed up with crews Skye Terrell and Martha Hughes for the Green Wave. Vassel and Briggs recorded five finishes in the top 10 including a race victory in the 11th rotation. In between the races for Vassel and Briggs the Wave picked up two other top six performances with Kohl earning one with Terrell and one with Hughes.
Up next, Tulane will begin competition in the ICSA Open Fleet Race National Semifinals on Tuesday. The Green Wave will race in the Open Eastern National Semifinals among 17 other teams on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 19-20, for a chance to advance to the championship finals on Thursday and Friday, May 21-22.
