Wave Moves on to Open Fleet Race National Championship Finals

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Tulane University sailing secured its place in the ICSA Open Fleet Race National Championship finals on Wednesday by placing third out of 18 teams in the Open Eastern National Semifinals. The Green Wave finished with a total score of 90 through seven total rotations across the two-day semifinal.

The combination of skipper Christian Ebbin with crew Sabrina Anderson and skipper Tate Christopher with crew Hope Breslin led the way for the Wave in the semifinals from the B Division. Through seven races the group finished fifth in the division with a total score of 42. Ebbin and Anderson worked together on the water to post finishes of sixth, 10th, seventh, sixth, and second while Christopher and Breslin paired to close the semifinal with finishes in 10th and first.

Over in the A Division the Green Wave also placed fifth behind the sailing of skipper Hamilton Barclay with crew Taylor Bartell and skipper Kelly Holthus with crew Jonah Wozniak. The group for the Wave closed the two-day semifinal with a total score of 48 in seven races. Barclay and Bartell teamed to earn one race victory while also posting finishes of second, sixth, seventh, ninth and 10th. In the final race of the semifinals for the A Division Holthus and Wozniak recorded a performance in 13th.

Up next, Tulane will begin competition in the ICSA Open Fleet Race National Championship on Thursday and Friday, May 21-22. The Green Wave will race against 17 other teams for the national title from SkyBeach Resort in St. Petersburg, Florida. Live results of the championship finals can be found HERE.
