Marshall Repeats as American Freshman of the Week
Dec 1, 2025 | Women's Basketball
IRVING, Texas – The American Conference announced its weekly women's basketball award winners this afternoon for competition played November 24-30 with Tulane's Mecailin Marshall tabbed as the league's freshman of the week. She repeats as the honoree.
This is Marshall's second weekly honor and the third for the program this season. She becomes the first Green Wave freshman to earn the award in back-to-back weeks since Kendall Sneed last season on January 27 and February 3. Sneed repeated twice last season.
Over two games in the Paradise Jam last week, Marshall scored 38 total points at a rate of 19.0 per game to lead the team. It was tied for the second-best scoring average by any American Conference player for the week. The native of Lubbock, Texas, shot at a 53.6 percent clip with a mark of 38.9 percent from three. She added in 12 rebounds and three assists. Marshall was named to the Harbor Division All-Tournament Team upon the conclusion of the event.
Marshall opened the tournament with a team-leading 17 points during Tulane's 64-61 victory over Elon. She added six boards with a pair of assists. In the championship of the Harbor Division against Boise State, she recorded a career-best 21 points to lead all scorers in the contest. Marshall was 7-of-13 from the floor with a 6-of-10 mark beyond the arc, becoming the first Wave player with six threes in a game since Victoria Keenan had six against Charlotte last season (Jan. 4, 2025). She once again grabbed six rebounds.
Tulane split its games in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, to finish as the runner up of the Paradise Jam Harbor Division. At 3-4 on the campaign, the Wave is back home this Friday, December 4, to host Missouri State. Tip-off against the Bears is set for 6:30 p.m. at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse, and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
