
Swimming & Diving Ranks Second After First Day of UNLV Winter Invitational

Day 1 Results
LAS VEGAS – The Tulane swimming and diving team is ranked second with 234.50 points after the first day of competition on Monday, Dec. 15, at the UNLV Winter Invitational at the Buchanan Natatorium.
The program was led by Eliza Lennox and Lise Coetzee on the first day of competition. Lennox tied for lead in winning the 50 free (22.81), while Coetzee took the 500 free title (4:51.98). Lennox earned 18.5 team points with Coetzee picking up 20 team points.
Andrea Zeebe was the squad's top finisher in the 200 IM in taking third place (2:02.08). She earned 16 team points with her finish. Gwen Shahboz swam a 2:05.35 to earn fifth and 14 team points, while Danielle Barberie finished ninth (2:04.18) to pick up nine team points
Sydney Mullin (seventh place – 5:02.17) and Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou (ninth place – 4:56.61) also placed in the top-10 in the 500 free finals. Each also earned team points for the squad with their finishes as Mullin had 12 points and Petropoulou picked up nine points.
The program's 400 medley relay team of Zeebe, Paula Gaya Bisquerra, Lennox and Rafaela Sumida earned third place (3:45.27) and 32 team points. The squad's B team of Nicole Fant, Ebba Holgersson, Petropoulou and Olcaytu Hatipoglu took ninth (3:49.94) and 22 team points.
The diving team saw five competitors earn points in the 3-meter. Libby Brewer paced the squad and finished fifth with a score 255.60. She also had 14 team points. Taylor Cekay placed sixth with a score of 244.70 and had 13 team points. Tannah Proudfoot took 11th with a score of 228.15 and earned six team points. Kelsey Weddington took 12th with a 225.95 score and earned five team points. Maya Superfon placed 16th with a 193.30 and a team point
Next, Tulane continues competing on day two of the UNLV Winter Invitational on Dec. 16 starting at 11:30 am CT. The events of the second day are the 200 medley relay, 100 butterfly, 400 IM, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, 800 free relay and the 1-meter diving.
The program finished the 2024-25 season with 54 top 10 school marks including 10 school records. The team also won six events, had 28 overall all conference marks, a placing of third overall at the league championship meet plus saw Head Coach Amanda Caldwell along with her staff being named the American's Coaching Staff of the Year. The program also had 10 qualify to participate in the National Championship Invitational this season, three divers that earned bids to the Zone D Diving Championship, had four swimmers named to the Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators and six that were CSCAA Scholar All-Americans. Additionally the program had nine NCAA 'B' cuts, placed fifth at the CSCAA Open Water Championships and rack up 10 American Conference Weekly honors (five swimmers of the week, two freshman swimmers of the week, two freshman divers of the week and one conference diver of the week).
