
Swimming & Diving Takes Third at the 2025 AAC Swimming and Diving Championships

Dallas, Texas – The Tulane swimming and diving team finished the 2025 AAC Swimming and Diving Championships in third place overall with 1234.50 points. The finish is the highest for the program since also finishing third in 2022. Head Coach Amanda Caldwell was voted as the AAC Swimming Coach of the Year following the competition. Maya Wilson just missed out on being named Swimmer of the Year after finishing second in the competition with 92 points. Catherine Russo ranked fifth among all competitors with 84 points. On the third day Tulane earned three more All-Conference selections including a pair of event victories. Over the course of four days of competition, Tulane tallied 14 All-AAC selections between individuals and relay teams.
On the fourth day of competition, Wilson won the 100 free (48.52) for 32 points. Russo took sixth with her time of 50.11 for 24 points. Olcaytu Hatipoglu earned 14 points.
Tulane's 400 free relay team of Rafaela Sumida, Hatipoglu, Russo and Wilson won their event and set a school record with a time of 3:17.66.
Andrea Zeebe was All-Conference in finishing third in the 200 backstroke (1:56.70) for 27 points.
Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou finished fourth with a 2:01.04 for 26 points. Phoebe Johnson earned 11 points. Layla Allen picked up six points, while Ece Tanriverdi tallied five points.
Lise Coetzee placed fourth overall in the 1650 freestyle with her time of 16:37.18 for 26 points. Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou placed sixth with her 16:58.34 for 24 points. Ece Tanriverdi placed ninth with 17:04.79 for 20 points. Sidney Mullin took 10thh with her 17:08.36 for 17 points. Layla Allen earned nine points. Phoebe Johnson totaled seven points.
In the 200 breast, Gwen Shahboz was the team's highest finisher in 10th place with a 2:14.80. She picked up 17 points. Emma Brady earned nine points, while Paula Gaya Bisquerra picked up five points.
Tulane saw five divers score points in the platform diving as Taylor Cekay (9), Paige McKenzie (7), Rachel Casebolt (6), Eva Shawver (3) and Kelsey Weddington (2).
Next Tulane sends qualifiers to Zone D Diving in Iowa City, Iowa. The qualifying swimmers will be in action either at the National Invitational Championships from March 12-15 in Ocala, Florida or the NCAA Championships from March 19-22 in Federal Way, Washington
