
Swimming & Diving’s Kelsey Weddington Earns Freshman Diver the Week Honors

IRVING, TX – The Tulane swimming & diving program saw Kelsey Weddington honored for the second straight week as she was named Freshman Diver of the Week by the American Athletic Conference (AAC) on Tuesday.
She placed third in the 3-meter dive (256.58) and sixth in the 1-meter dive (233.78) against West Florida on Saturday. Her 3-meter score was a collegiate best and surpassed her previous mark by 10.05 points and placed her 10th all-time at Tulane in the event.
Weddington's selection makes it 10 times that a Tulane swimmer or diver has honored with an AAC Weekly Award this season following Catherine Russo (Swimmer – Oct. 1), Rachel Casebolt (Diver – Oct. 1), Andrea Zeebe (Swimmer – Oct. 22), Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou (Freshman Swimmer – Oct. 22), Gwen Shahboz (Swimmer – Nov. 5), Maya Wilson (Swimmer – Jan. 7), Wilson (Swimmer – Jan. 28), Petropoulou (Freshman Swimmer – Jan. 28), Kelsey Weddington (Freshman Diver – Jan. 28) and Weddington (Freshman Diver – Feb. 4). She is the third repeat winner of an award this season for the program.

Last time out, the Tulane swimming and diving team won all 13 events, totaled 22 top three individual finishes and achieved a Zone qualifying diving mark in earning a 159-83 Senior Day victory over West Florida on February 1 at the Reily Center Natatorium. Â The program had two individual multi-event winners on the afternoon in Andrea Zeebe (200 free and 100 back) and Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou (1000 free and 100 butterfly). The program also saw Paige McKenzie qualify for Zones in the 1-meter with a score of 270.30.
Nest Tulane heads to the 2025 AAC Swimming Championship held from Feb. 19-22 in Dallas, Texas at SMU.
