Fantini, Wave Win Friday Afternoon Thriller at City Park

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane freshman Natalia Fantini saved her best for last against South Alabama's Lara van der Merwe as the former took a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 clinching victory at No. 5 singles to lift the host Green Wave to a 4-3 triumph over the Jaguars on Friday.
Tulane evened its record at 2-2 on the season, while South Alabama dropped to 1-2.
The Olive and Blue's Campbell Ricci and Summer Chandler also grabbed a pair of wins at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, with the latter taking a wild 0-6, 6-1, 6-0 affair over Manal Ennaciri.
That came after the home team snared the doubles point as Ricci and Leigh Van Zyl grabbed a 6-3 win at No. 1. Fantini and Delanie Tribby also secured an earlier 6-2 win at No. 3.
The Green Wave is back home Tuesday at 2 p.m. when the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (2-1) hit City Park.
