
Tulane Finishes Second & Third at Weekend Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing opened its spring slate with a pair of top three finishes at separate regattas in the northeast over the weekend. The Green Wave landed in second among 18 teams in the St. Mary's Women's Fleet Race and third in a field of 10 teams at the Southern New England Team Race.

In St. Mary's City, Maryland, for the St. Mary's Women's Fleet Race the Wave ended the regatta with a total team score of 101 to take second place. The trio of Ava Anderson, Ella May Corckran, and Cate Anderson paced Tulane on the water in the B Division. That trio finished second in the division with 43 points through 12 races. The Green Wave also landed in second over in the A Division as Sammie Gardner, Gabriela Vassel, Hope Breslin, Caitlin Briggs, and Martha Hughes combined to finish with 58 points in 12 races.

Meanwhile in New London, Connecticut, for the Southern New England Team Race Tulane finished in third with a 9-5 record in the regatta. Skippers Hamilton Barclay, Christian Ebbin, and Kelly Holthus teamed with crews CJ Ricci, Matheo Capasso, Sabrina Anderson, Ryan Ehnot, Taylor Bartell, and Brady Starck to collect the nine victories on the Thames River for the Wave. The Green Wave ultimately secured wins over Bowdoin College, Roger Williams, Coast Guard, Brown, Tufts, MIT, and Connecticut College as well as two wins over Rhode Island.

Up next, Tulane will hit the road again for a pair of road regattas on Saturday and Sunday, March 22-23. The Green Wave will compete in the Szambecki Team Race hosted by Old Dominion in Norfolk, Virginia, and the Duplin Women's Team Race hosted by Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
