
Wave Finishes Fourth & Seventh in Weekend Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing recorded another top-five finish early in the spring season as racing finished in a pair of road regattas on Sunday. The Green Wave landed fourth at the Aaron Szambecki Team Race and ended the Duplin Trophy Women's Team Race in eighth.
On the waters of the Elizabeth River in the Aaron Szambecki Team Race Tulane secured fourth place out of 13 teams. After posting an 8-2 record on the water Saturday the Wave went 1-6 on Sunday to fall from second to fourth in the standings.
Skippers Hamilton Barclay, Christian Ebbin, and Kelly Holthus teamed with crews CJ Ricci, Matheo Capasso, Sabrina Anderson, Ryan Ehnot, Taylor Bartell, and Brady Starck earned wins over all of the other nine teams in the field – Boston College, Georgetown, George Washington, Fordham, Miami, Stanford, Old Dominion, Dartmouth, and Navy.
In the race for the Duplin Trophy the Green Wave finished with a 5-11 record after going 1-4 on Sunday to land in eighth among nine teams in the regatta. Skippers Gabriella Vassel, Ava Anderson, and Sammie Gardner combined with crews Essie Clifton, Martha Hughes, Ella May Corckran, Cate Anderson, Hope Breslin, Caitlin Briggs, and Oakley Cunningham to finish with wins over Boston College, Bowdoin, Roger Williams, College of Charleston, and MIT.
Up next, Tulane will travel back to the northeast to compete in the Marchiando Team Race and the Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race on Saturday and Sunday, March 29-30. The Marchiando Team Race will be hosted by MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts, while the Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race will be run by Brown in Providence, Rhode Island.
