Wave Visits Texas for Pair of Weekend Matches

NEW ORLEANS – The 68th-ranked Tulane women's tennis team will be back in action this weekend in Denton, Texas, for two matches on Saturday and Sunday, March 22-23. The Green Wave will face off against UAB for a neutral site matchup at 10 a.m. on Saturday before taking on North Texas on the road Sunday at 10 a.m.

Both matches will be played at the Waranch Tennis Complex on the campus of North Texas. The match between the Wave and the Blazers will not have live scoring on Saturday, but fans can watch the match against the Mean Green HERE or follow live scores HERE.

This will be the 13th matchup all-time between Tulane and UAB with the Green Wave leading the series 10-2. The Wave defeated the Blazers 4-0 in the only previous neutral matchup in the Conference USA Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on April 22, 2010. Tulane also won the most recent meeting with UAB 4-1 at home last season on March 10, 2024.

The Green Wave and the Mean Green have met on the court five times in program history with Tulane leading the series 4-1. In fact, the Wave has won each of the last four meetings against North Texas including a 4-2 victory at home last season on April 7, 2024. The lone loss for the Green Wave in the series came in the first meeting by a final score of 5-2 on January 18, 2009, in New Orleans.

Tulane is coming off a four-match homestand during which it posted a 3-1 record including a 4-2 win over No. 66 Princeton on March 13. In its latest match the Wave swept Nicholls 7-0 on Wednesday, March 19.

Leading the Green Wave in singles are Campbell Ricci and Summer Chandler who are a combined 14-5 this spring at the Nos. 1 and 2 spots. In doubles action Tulane is paced by Ricci and Leigh Van Zyl who hold a 7-2 mark together at their No. 1 doubles slot.

Following the matches in Texas, Tulane will return home to host No. 73 Memphis on March 28. The match between the Green Wave and the Tigers is set to begin at 3 p.m. at City Park Tennis Center.
