
Tulane Sits Second & Eighth after First Day of Racing

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing had a solid opening day on the water in a pair of road regattas on Saturday. The Green Wave finished the day in second place at the Aaron Szambecki Team Race in Norfolk, Virginia, and eighth place in the Duplin Trophy Women's Team Race in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

On Saturday on the waters of the Elizabeth River Tulane posted an 8-2 record to hold second place in the regatta behind Navy who finished 9-1. Skippers Hamilton Barclay, Christian Ebbin, and Kelly Holthus teamed with crews CJ Ricci, Matheo Capasso, Sabrina Anderson, Ryan Ehnot, Taylor Bartell, and Brady Starck to pace the Wave on the water. The Green Wave ultimately earned wins over Boston College, Georgetown, George Washington, Fordham, Miami, Stanford, Old Dominion, and Dartmouth on Saturday.

Meanwhile in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in the race for the Duplin Trophy the Green Wave ended the first day on the water with a 4-7 record to sit eighth in the regatta. Skippers Gabriella Vassel, Ava Anderson, and Sammie Gardner combined with crews Essie Clifton, Martha Hughes, Ella May Corckran, Cate Anderson, Hope Breslin, Caitlin Briggs, and Oakley Cunningham to pick up wins for Tulane over Boston College, Bowdoin, Roger Williams, and College of Charleston.
