Green Wave Closes Regular Season on the Road

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing travels to the northeast to wrap up the regular season this weekend on Saturday and Sunday, April 12-13. The Green Wave will have one crew in New London, Connecticut, to compete in the Thompson Trophy Team Race and another squad in Annapolis, Maryland, to race for the Truxtun Umsted Trophy.

The Thompson Trophy Team Race will be hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on the waters of Thames River. Racing is scheduled to begin at 10:05 a.m. CT on Saturday and Sunday for the regatta.

Alongside Tulane there will be seven teams represented in the regatta including Boston College, Coast Guard, College of Charleston, Harvard, Rhode Island, Roger Williams, and Tufts. Competing on the water for the Wave will be skippers Gabriela Vassel, Ava Anderson, Sammie Gardner, Hamilton Barclay, Christian Ebbin, and Kelly Holthus with crews Essie Clifton, Ella May Corckran, Hope Breslin, CJ Ricci, Sabrina Anderson, and Taylor Bartell.

Meanwhile in Annapolis, the Truxtun Umsted Trophy will be hosted by Navy on the waters of the Severn River. The Green Wave will be joined on the water by teams from Boston University, Christopher Newport, Cornell, Fordham, George Washington, Hampton, Hobart & William, Jacksonville, North Carolina State, Northeastern, Old Dominion, St. Mary's, Navy, Miami, Vermont, and Webb Institute.
