
Tulane Finishes Third & Seventh in Final Regular Season Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing wrapped up the regular season on Sunday finishing in third for the Truxtun Umsted Trophy and seventh in the Thompson Trophy Team Race.

In Annapolis, Maryland, on the waters of the Severn River the Green Wave dropped one spot in the standings on Sunday to land third out of 17 team racing for the Truxtun Umsted Trophy. Through 14 total races the Wave tallied 174 points scoring 69 of those points during the final six races on Sunday.

The duo of John Wood and Ellie Spearman paced Tulane in the regatta closing with 83 points including three first-place performances that landed them fourth in the division. Over in the A Division Zander King and Alex Makoid finished first in two races to end the regatta with 91 points and closed out in fourth in their division.

Tulane also dropped one spot in the standings in the Thompson Trophy Team Race on Sunday to finish in seventh among eight teams with an 8-13 record. Skippers Hamilton Barclay, Gabriela Vassel, Christian Ebbin, Ava Anderson, Kelly Holthus, and Sammie Gardner paired with crews CJ Ricci, Essie Clifton, Sabrina Anderson, and Taylor Bartell to collect wins over Tufts, Roger Williams, Coast Guard, College of Charleston, and Rhode Island.

Up next, the Green Wave will head to Providence, Rhode Island, to compete in the ICSA Team Race Championships from April 24-28.
