
Tulane Moving on in the AAC Tournament with a Win over North Texas

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tulane women's tennis team handed North Texas a 4-2 lost on Thursday afternoon at the Leftwich Tennis Center in Memphis, Tennessee. With the win, the Green Wave will move on to the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference Tournament to play #2 seed Rice.
The Green Wave improved to 12-10 overall, while North Texas finish their season with an 11-11 mark.
The Olive and Blue secured the doubles point before clinching the match in singles play. Doubles victories came on courts 1 and 2. The #1 doubles pair of Campbell Ricci and Leigh Van Zyl won their set 6-4 while the #2 doubles pair of Summer Chandler and Micah Pierce won 7-6 (8-6). Chandler and Pierce mounted a comeback in the tiebreaker down 1-4 to clinch the doubles point 8-6.
Tulane secured singles wins at Nos. 1 (Ricci), 3 (Van Zyl) and 6 (Fantini) to top the Mean Green. Ricci's 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory on court 1 clinched the match for the Wave.
The Green Wave is back in action tomorrow versus #37 Rice at 3pm at the Leftwich Tennis Center in the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference Tournament. Live stats and tournament information can be found on the Championship Central website.
