
Tulane Falls to Rice at the AAC Tournament

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Tulane women's tennis team lost a close battle 4-2 to the Rice Owls Friday evening in the American Athletic Conference Tennis Championships at the Leftwich Tennis Facility in Memphis, Tennessee.
Tulane secured the doubles point with wins on courts #1 and #2. The #1 doubles team of Campbell Ricci and Leigh Van Zyl won their set 6-4 while the #2 doubles team of Summer Chandler and Micah Pierce captured their set 6-1. The Green Wave's singles win came on courts 3 as Leigh Van Zyl pulled out a thriller over Frances Maguina Bunikowska 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 to secure the team's second point.
The Green Wave drop to 12-11 overall, while #37 improves to 17-5 and will take on the winner of Charlotte vs Memphis in the semi-final round of the AAC Championships on Saturday.
This match wraps up the Green Wave's 2025 season. The Wave will return six members of this year's roster as they look to contend for a championship in 2026-27.
