
Dean Named AAC Female Track Athlete of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane track & field graduate student Janae Dean was named the American Athletic Conference Female Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. This marks the second time of the outdoor season Dean has been selected as the conference's athlete of the week.
Dean earned the distinguishment following another record-breaking performance at the Bryan Clay Invitational. This time the Kansas City, Kansas, native snapped her own program record in the 800 meters.
On Thursday, April 17, Dean cross the finish line at 2:03.73 in the 800 meters to beat her previous record-holding mark of 2:04.30. She first broke the Tulane record in the event earlier this spring on March 29 at the Raleigh Relays.
The first AAC Athlete of the Week honor for Dean this spring came following her record-setting performance at the Raleigh Relays. She was named the league female athlete of the week on April 1 after winning the 800 meters at the meet.
Tulane will be back in action this week in two separate meets. The Green Wave will send athletes to the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, and the Knights Invitational in Orlando, Florida. The Drake Relays will run from Thursday to Saturday, April 24-26, while the Knights Invitational will be held Friday and Saturday, April 25-26.
