Tulane Lands Sixth in ICSA Women’s Team Race National Championship

CRANSTON, R.I. – Tulane University finished in sixth place out of 12 teams in the ICSA Women's Team Race National Championship on Monday. The championship regatta was the second discipline to be completed at the Ted Turner '60 Sailing Pavilion and Edgewood Yacht Club on the Providence River.
The Wave ultimately finished with a 7-9 record in the regatta to claim sixth place in the championship. Tulane opened by posting a 7-4 mark in round one to advance into the round of six.
However, the Green Wave struggled in the round of six finishing with an 0-5 record in the round to ultimately land sixth overall in the championship regatta.
Skippers Gabriela Vassel, Ava Anderson, and Samantha Gardner teamed with crews Martha Hughes, Essie Clifton, Cate Anderson, Ella May Corckran, Oakley Cunningham, and Hope Breslin for the 16 total races for the Wave. In those races Tulane earned victories over Brown, College of Charleston, Cornell, Georgetown, Harvard, MIT, and Pennsylvania.
Up next, the Green Wave will travel to St. Mary's City, Maryland, for the ICSA Fleet Race National Championships from May 20-30. The fleet race championships will begin with the women's races from May 20-23 followed by the open races from May 27-30.
