
Green Wave Advances to ICSA Women’s Fleet Race National Championship Finals

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Tulane University finished fifth in the ICSA Women's Fleet Race Western National Semifinals on Wednesday to advance to the ICSA Women's Fleet Race National Championship in St. Mary's City, Maryland. With the performance the Green Wave moved on to the national finals for the fifth consecutive season. Â

The Wave landed firmly in the top nine of the western semifinal finishing fifth with total score of 124 to punch a ticket to the championship finals on Thursday and Friday. Tulane claimed fourth in the B Division with 57 points and seventh in the A Division with 67 points.

In the A Division, skipper Sammie Gardner teamed with crews Hope Breslin and Caitlin Briggs. Gardner and Breslin combined on the water for races 1-3 and 5-9 to post three finishes in the top five including back-to-back third-place performances in rotations two and three. Briggs joined Gardner for the fourth rotation on the water and landed fifth in the race.

Over in the B Division, skipper Ava Anderson paired with crew Ella May Corckran for all nine rotations on the water. The duo posted four finishes inside the top five including a pair of second-place performances.

Up next, the Green Wave will begin competition in the ICSA Women's Fleet Race National Championship on Thursday, May 22. The championship regatta will also take place on the waters of the St. Mary's River and run through Friday, May 23. Racing will begin at 8:30 a.m. CT on both Thursday and Friday.
