
Tulane Finishes Runner-Up in the ICSA Women’s Fleet Race National Championship

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Tulane University claimed a runner-up finish on Friday in the ICSA Women's Fleet Race National Championship in St. Mary's City, Maryland. The Green Wave landed just 11 points behind the national champion Stanford.Â

The Wave ended the championship regatta with 209 total points through 16 rotations across two divisions.

The trio of Ava Anderson, Ella May Corckran, and Cate Anderson paced the Wave on the water from the B Division. The Tulane trio finished first in their division with a total of 86 points through 16 races. Ava Anderson and Corckran teamed up for five finishes in the top five including a pair of first place performances. Cate Anderson also joined Ava Anderson on the water to post another five top-five performances.

In the A Division, skipper Sammie Gardner teamed with crews Hope Breslin and Caitlin Briggs to finish third in the division. The Green Wave sailors ended with 123 points across 16 races on the waters of the St. Mary's River. Gardner and Breslin combined to post four top-five finishes while Gardner and Briggs tallied three performances in the top five together. Both duos for the Wave recorded one race victory in the division.

Up next, the Green Wave will begin competition in the ICSA Open Fleet Race Eastern Semifinals on Tuesday, May 27. The semifinal regatta will also take place on the waters of the St. Mary's River and run through Wednesday, May 28. Racing will begin at 8:30 a.m. CT on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
