
Baseball Has A Pair Earn AAC Weekly Honor Roll Recognition

Irving, TX – The Tulane baseball team (30-21, 13-11 AAC), after winning a road series over Memphis last weekend, saw pair of players named to the AAC's Weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced this afternoon.
Jason Wachs, a freshman from Pembroke Pines, Fla., continued to spark the lineup at the top of the order as he hit .538 with seven hits, a double, two walks and two RBIs. He also had eight total bases, a slugging percentage of .615 and an on-base percentage of .600. Wachs recorded a pair of three-hit games for Tulane in the team's victories over the Tigers. Those were his third and fourth three-hit games of the season. He now has 13 multiple hit performances on the campaign. Wachs also ran his on-base streak to 19 consecutive games (best on the team this season) and his hitting streak to 16 (best on the team this season). During the 19 games of the on-base streak, Wachs is hitting .435 with 20 runs, 27 hits, nine doubles, eight RBIs, a slugging percentage of .581, 15 walks and on-base percentage of .538 with three stolen bases. Wachs also leads the club this season in batting average (.343) and on-base percentage (.474).
Michael Lombardi, a junior from Pound Ridge, NY, Â continued his run as the top reliever in the conference with a pair of saves against the Tigers over the weekend. He appeared in a pair of games and threw two innings with five strikeouts while limiting Memphis to one hit and one walk in earning his 10th and 11th saves of the season. The saves moved him into a tie for eighth place all-time at Tulane in single season saves and into seventh all by himself in career saves at the school with 16. This season, Lombardi is 3-0 with a 1.55 ERA in 20 games. He has thrown 29 innings and totaled 55 strikeouts against just 15 hits allowed while limiting opponents to a .155 batting average against.
This is the first weekly recognition for Wachs this season. This marks the fifth time that Lombardi has been recognized weekly by the conference on the campaign. Overall the program has been recognized by the conference 10 times on the year.
