Tulane Falls at Home to UAB
Jan 14, 2026 | Men's Basketball
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane men's basketball (12–5, 3–1) saw its five-game winning streak snapped in a 69–82 loss to UAB (12–6, 3–2) Wednesday night inside Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse. The Green Wave was unable to generate enough defensive stops in the second half to rally from a halftime deficit and earn its seventh win of the season when trailing at the break.
With the loss, Tulane dropped to 14–28 all-time against the Blazers, including an 8–12 mark at home in the series. The defeat also ended a five-game overall winning streak for the Green Wave and a four-game home winning streak in Uptown.
Three players scored in double figures for Tulane in its first conference loss of the season. Rowan Brumbaugh and Asher Woods led the way with 16 points apiece. Brumbaugh also recorded a team-high six assists, along with four rebounds and a steal. Tyler Ringgold rounded out the scoring leaders, posting 12 points—all in the second half—on 5-of-6 shooting, including two three-pointers to match his career high.
The Green Wave got off to a slow start, falling behind 6–0 over the first three-plus minutes of the opening half. Following a Tulane timeout, the Wave found its rhythm, battling back to tie the game at 8–8 before the teams began trading baskets.
Tulane claimed its first lead of the night with a seven-point run, taking a 19–15 advantage with under 10 minutes remaining in the half. In a contest marked by scoring runs, UAB responded and eventually built a 10-point lead as the teams headed into the locker room with Tulane trailing 38–29.
Tulane opened the second half with momentum, using a 13–0 run to take a 46–42 lead with 15 minutes remaining. The two teams traded the lead three times over the next several minutes before UAB mounted a decisive run midway through the half.
After Brumbaugh knocked down a three-pointer to give Tulane a 54–53 edge with 9:40 left, UAB answered with back-to-back threes to ignite a 17–5 run. That surge put the Green Wave behind by double digits with under four minutes to play. Tulane was unable to string together enough defensive stops down the stretch, ultimately falling 82–69.
Tulane will next welcome North Texas to Uptown on Sunday, January 18. Tipoff between the Green Wave and the Mean Green is set for 4 p.m. on ESPN2.
