Tulane Completes First Day of Vanderbilt Invitational

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A victory for Zaria Parker and Cara Salsberry nearing a school record highlighted day one of the Vanderbilt Invitational for Tulane at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility Friday.
Parker was Tulane's lone victor on the day, topping the leaderboard of the women's 200 meters with a personal-best mark of 24.27, which is good enough to rank as the fifth-best time in program history. In the women's weight throw, Salsberry recorded 17.80 meters to finish third and come close to the program record of 18.92 meters. Salsberry's mark checked in as the second best in program history.
Also in the weight throw, Quin Tandeih recorded a personal-high of 13.37 meters to place 15th.
Elena Liano-Rengel placed sixth in the women's 1,000 meters with a time of 2:50.36 to make it a trio of Green Wave athletes with top-10 results. Liano-Rengel's mark is a new personal best. Also in the 1,000 meters, Reese Ragland posted a 2:54.78 to place 11th, just shy of the top 10.
Samuel Cohen and Jalen St. Fort led the way in the men's 1,000 meters for Tulane as they placed 13th and 18th, respectively. Cohen recorded a 2:29.23 as St. Fort posted a 2:32.77 with Cohen's mark a new personal best.
The event concludes tomorrow with a full slate of action. Day two will again stream on SECN+.
