Jan 20, 2026 | Women's Swimming and Diving
IRVING, TX – The Tulane swimming and diving team was honored with three weekly awards from the American Conference, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Lise Coetzee Named American Swimmer of the Week
Sophomore Lise Coetzee earned recognition for her performances last week. Coetzee was a key contributor to Tulane's success, helping the Green Wave secure three head-to-head victories (vs. North Texas, New Mexico, and Little Rock) and the overall Mardi Gras title with 166 points in swimming and diving. She captured wins in the 1000 free, 500 free, 200 free and was part of the 400 free relay victory. She also had second-place finish in the 800 free relay, and a third-place finish in the 200 free relay. Her time in the 1000 free (10:01.81) was a season-best, just missed the pool record set in 2017 and was an NIC A cut. The 800 free relay team time of 7:21.14 also was a qualifying mark for NICs.
Eliza Lennox Named American Freshman Swimmer of the Week
Freshman Eliza Lennox was the team's top freshman point contributor at the Mardi Gras Invite. She captured a total of six event wins over the weekend between individual competitions and relays. Her 50 fly time of 24.20 was a personal best and an NIC A cut. She also registered victories in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free relay, 200 medley relay, and the 400 free.
Libby Brewer Named American Freshman Diver of the Week
Freshman Libby Brewer was the highest scoring diver for the Green Wave at the Mardi Gras Invite against North Texas and New Mexico. The event held three separate diving sessions (1M, 3M, and a Team Event) that all were held with knock-out rounds to advance through to complete the list of dives. Brewer had second-place finishes in both the 3M (266.80 pts.) & 1M (278.20 pts.). Additionally, her 1M score qualified her for NCAA Zones. She is already qualified for NCAA Zones in the 3M earlier this season, although her 3M score of 266.80 would have at this meet as well. The diving team of Brewer, Kelsey Weddington, and Taylor Cekay won the team event over the Mean Green powerhouse with a score of 268.
These accolades mark the sixth, seventh and eighth times a Tulane swimmer or diver has earned an American Conference Weekly Award this season, and the 18th time over the past two seasons. Lennox previously received the Freshman Swimmer of the Week honor on Nov. 18 and Jan. 8. This is the third time that Brewer has been recognized as the Freshman Diver of the Week having been previously honor on Oct. 21 and Nov. 18.
